Bhaktapur – The Khoprung Nawadurga Sankalp Feast was successfully concluded in Madhyapur Thimi. The event was organized by the Bhaktapur Development Support Association, where the Nawadurga deities were honored with rituals, meals, and new attire.
The procession started at the Balkumari Temple, where the Nawadurga deities were escorted with traditional musical bands and ceremonies to the Siddhiganesh Temple. There, they were received with respect, worshipped, and offered a feast alongside new clothing.
During the event, the Bhaktapur Development Support Association not only provided meals to the Nawadurga deities but also offered meals to over 1,500 devotees, ensuring a warm and respectful reception.
For decades, the Nawadurga deities, considered living gods, have been venerated through rituals and celebrations. According to the elders of Madhyapur, this special ritual was conducted after a gap of 50 years, highlighting its cultural and historical significance.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Member of Parliament Bimalendra Nidhi, Bagmati Province Minister for Social Development Hariprabha Khadgi, Provincial Assembly Members Suresh Shrestha, Dipendra Shrestha, and Dhaneshwori Prajapati, as well as Mayor Surendra Shrestha and Deputy Mayor Vijay Krishna Shrestha of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality.
