Squad for ACC Emerging Nations Cup unveiled

The 15 member squad was unveiled for the ACC Emerging Nations Cup on Wednesday. Gyanendra Malla is the skipper while Sharad Vesawkar is his deputy. Malla was picked to lead the team as Paras Khadka is still recovering from appendicitis surgery he underwent in mid-February.

Likewise, Sagar Pun, Binod Bhandari, Mahaboob Alam, Dipendra Singh Airee, Sandeep Lamichhane, Sunil Dhamala, and Avinash Karn are also in the team that will begin the tournament with the match against Pakistan U-23 on March 27 at Sheikh Kamal Stadium–2, in Bangladesh.

Nepal is pooled in Group ‘B’ along with Pakistan U-23, Bangladesh U-23 and Hong Kong in the tournament that will run through March 25 to April 4 in Bangladesh.

Arif Sheikh, Asif Sheikh, Bhuwan Karki, Sushan Bhari, Dipesh Shrestha and Dilip Nath also made it in the playing list, while veteran spinners Basanta Regmi, Shakti Gauchan and paceman Sompal Kami are rested for the event.

Likewise, Kushal Bhurtel, Jitendra Kumar Mukhiya, Rajesh Pulami Magar and Sushil Kandel are the four players in the reserve pool.

India U-23, Sri Lanka U-23, Afghanistan and Malaysia are in Group A. The top two teams from each group will qualify to the semi-final.
